The Callisto appears on the horizon
Political intrigue seems destined to follow mankind wherever it goes, including to the moons of Jupiter, as we'll soon see for ourselves in GIB Games' upcoming VR-exclusive murder mystery, The Callisto.
Once a former mining facility, the eponymous luxury hotel on Jupiter's second-largest moon was recently the murder site of a certain "political figure" and three others. With the crime scene now empty, players assume the role of "a member of an interstellar police force" who is assigned to investigate and determine if it was politically motivated. In order to find the truth, you must collect evidence, interview witnesses via a computerized Regional Advisory Contact (REGAC, or Reggie as it's more affectionately known), analyze clues, and solve puzzles along the way. However, the more you "explore the staff and guests' backroom connections, and learn about the underground financiers of this remote paradise on the cold surface of a moon," the more you begin to reveal the hotel's "seedy history."
The Callisto is a "high-fidelity" first-person adventure, fully voiced with a cast that includes Jon St. John, best known for his iconic role of Duke Nukem. Based on "the lore of the 2017 tabletop RPG Cold Start," the game promises to blend "the puzzles of an escape room with an interactive storyline and deep lore," with a "dynamic puzzle system to make each playthrough unique."
There is no firm target release date just yet, but The Callisto is due to touch down on Steam sometime this spring for Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift devices.
