‘Return to Monkey Island’ Finally Launches on consoles
Devolver Digital announced earlier this month that Return to Monkey Island would be coming to consoles.
Return to Monkey Island was first released on PC and Nintendo Switch in September, but console players will finally be able to get in on the action as the game has launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 8. In addition to the console release, Microsoft has announced that the game will also be coming to Game Pass, so if you're a subscriber, you'll be able to play it on Xbox or PC starting November 8.
Earlier this month the game was made natively available to play on Linux, as well as having a fully localized German version, in this Norman Matt reprises his iconic role of Guybrush Threepwood, supported by other outstanding voice actors.
If you're unfamiliar with the Monkey Island series, it's a point-and-click adventure game that first launched in 1990. The series follows the misadventures of pirate Guybrush Threepwood as he tries to become the most feared pirate in the seven seas. While it had been a while since we've seen a new Monkey Island game, the series has been kept alive through re-releases and spin-offs, like Tales of Monkey Island, which launched in 2009.
Return to Monkey Island is a bit of a return to form for the series, as it features the same point-and-click gameplay that made the original games so famous.
