Yeah, just waiting on my backer keys. Sounds like it’s been worth the wait.

Anticipating: Beyond Good and Evil 2
Backing: Asylum
I hope so I replayed the first one two or three years ago and I thought it actually still held up pretty well. the controls were a bit off but I still had a great time with it.
I really enjoyed my recent time with Ratchet & Clank remake on the PS4 as something that was casual and easy fun, looking forward to that same experience type again.
The only thing that does give me a little pause is the collect-A-Thon approach. not a huge fan of that but I think I can skip half of it, if i want to.
I have played about 6 hrs so far and im enjoying my time with the game. Beautiful graphics and art direction, good story, great characters with awesome voice work. But I do have some issues.
The load times on the ps4 are OUTRAGEOUSLY LONG, it is shocking, games like ghost of tsushima and persona have next to no load times on ps4 and this is full of them every 10 seconds, and they are long. The controls are not great, for the record they are not terrible either just meh, especially for combat.
Now since that is out of the way I do have some story questions, since you are dealing with the mind, some things are left very abstract on purpose. But One of the first missions you go is changing an agents mind to let you go on a mission instead of her keeping you safe. You find out a lot about her traumas as an intern herself but, one thing I didnt understand is why she was so cautious when it came to kids and her life aka no risk. It is heavily implied that she cant have kids, but I dont know how that transfers to in the real world; since she cant have kids she has to protect her students at all cost, that was a bit of a leap in logic to me I do love the whole gambling motif of her level though and going to a casino was fun, It gave off very sly cooper vibes to me.
Overall there is a lot to collect and upgrade,so sometimes my OCD kicks in lol, but I love this charming game so far.
I’m playing it too and I’m having a great time, it’s a lot of fun and love the art direction and all the craziness and variety of levels. I think I’m close to the end and I have some questions/issues with the story but I guess I have to wait and see if they get resolved. Btw I’m playing it on PC and I don’t have issues with loading times so I guess is a PS4 issue?
I just love the way it tackles mental issues in a funny way and the way it delves into characters’ minds although I must admit probably a lot of things or humor go over my head at first. The thing you mention about the agent being cautious with the kids I assumed it was just because it was the idea she had in her head when the mission came up, like she just thinks it’s too dangerous for the kids. Once Raz learns how to reconnect ideas in her head he realizes he could try and change them. I didn’t think it was related to the maternity stuff but maybe you’re right cause why else would that be there.

Yeah i really dont know how far i am. Im fixing the last part of fords brain, ive finished all side quest besides one, and 100 percented every level i can. Im still missing one power.
The game is really charming, and seeing how mental illness effects each character is great. While i love the concepts of each level, some of the execution is very meh. I have no issues with the story so far. But you do have to run around and talk to each character after every level, to connect every dot. The characters are wonderful though, not a single one i dont like.
I just wish the gameplay was a bit better. Once again not bad at all but below avg. But both ratchet and clank and It takes two played far better.
Overall i love this game and this feels less like a sequel and more like one long series that spans 3 games. 9/10 so far for me.
Bombastic.
“Going on means going far - Going far means returning”
I finished it and it was great. I had a lot fun and I think I was smiling all the time in each level with how funny and creative they are with the mental worlds. I guess I agree that the gameplay is nothing to write home about but it was fun.
About the story the questions I had pretty much get explained at the end I was just worried when the game kind of shifted gears and we suddenly stopped looking for the mole and it was more about reuniting the old seven group to face Maligula. But it all came together nicely at the end I think. I actually didn’t know you can talk and get new dialog with characters after levels. I just assumed it wasn’t that kind of game so I didn’t bother but I now I regret it cause I liked the characters and I didn’t talk more to them
The one issue I had was that the last power is given to us too late I think. It didn’t made sense to me that we don’t get to use it to open new areas and secrets until after the end game But it was a great experience, I’ll give it a 8.5 or 9/10.

I also beat the game, Did you do all the post credit stuff as far as talking to everybody, it gives a good idea where the story will go if there is ever a pyschonauts 3. I exhausted all dialogue options throughout the game, did all sidequest and I loved the story, the characters, and the mood. I totally dug who the bad guy/mole was, and the story of the original pyschonauts. I also want to give a huge shoutout to the devs for how they handled the gay relationship here. They were just gay and married and didnt try to preach to the audience like so many games try and do now, looking at you life is strange 2. While I dont think there was any levels quite as good as the milkman level in the first game, the overall quality of the level designs were better here. Like I said the gameplay is avg at best, very little challenge to be had here, but the game is a very fun collect-a-thon and I usually hate collect-a-thons.
overall I would give it a 9.2/10 bring on a 3rd game.
P.S. I have almost 100 percented the game and it will take me about 22 hrs total to do everything and I think that is the perfect length for a game. Im in the minority but I find most games to be far too long these days.
I have the first one loaded on my PC. I’ve played the intro and it looks great. I’m so behind…….
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.
I didn’t enjoy Psychonauts 2 at all. Loved the first game but they were really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, needlessly stretching out most sections to boredom or frustration. I thought it spoke volumes that the best sections were the ones that resembled the previous game (outside, mostly). But “more of the same” didn’t cut it with me when the appeal of Psychonauts was its novelty.
