Did you ever have to write one of those papers in school about what you did on your summer vacation? Casey Beaumaris, protagonist of Ghost Pattern’s Wayward Strand, is doing just that, and by the sounds of things, it’s going to be a hard one for her classmates to top.

Have you ever been so hopelessly stuck in an adventure game that you wanted to punch something? Or have you ever been in the middle of a video game brawler and thought, ‘What if we just took a break from hitting each other and thought this through?’ Developer COWCAT evidently has, taking it upon themselves to combine the genres of “Classic Adventure” and “Beat-em up” in their game BROK the InvestiGator.

Get a first impression of the time travel point-and-click adventure spanning two hundred years being created by renowned studio Wadjet Eye Games, known for Unavowed and the Blackwell series. As of today, you'll be able to play and experience the demo on Steam of the hand-painted 'time travel adventure' Old Skies.

There have been 5 Simon the Sorcerer games, including more recently the 25th Anniversary editions (of questionable quality) and an attempt at rebooting the franchise in 2014 with Simon the Sorcerer: Between Worlds. The latter would feature Simon in his 40s developed by the studio StoryBeasts, unfortunately due to funding and publisher issues the game never saw the light of day and StoryBeasts sadly was never heard of again. The fate of Simon the Sorcerer was unclear for a very long period of time, until the announcement of the prequel!

We're all looking optimistically forward to life returning to something resembling normal after the pandemic, but the few survivors of Sergey Noskov's 35MM aren't nearly so fortunate, as more players can now find out for themselves following its recent release on consoles.

As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Don't believe it? Well, just look at the recent resurgence in popularity of new releases for the Game Boy as proof. The next in a growing line of new games exclusively for Nintendo's handheld devices is Ben Jelter's choice-driven narrative adventure, The Machine.

Many (fictional) tragedies have occurred in pursuit of eternal life, but rarely have so many happened to one family, as they do in The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, a live-action Japanese mystery from h.a.n.d. and Square Enix that is due to arrive this spring.

Besides visiting Adventure Gamers, most of us spend way too much time online. Breaking free from that trap and rediscovering the real world is the challenge in Land of Screens, a short new adventure from the creators of Half Past Fate that has just been released on PC and Switch.

Indie Turkish developer Tonguç Bodur has carved out quite a niche for himself with a variety of atmospheric exploratory adventures over the years, most notably the Drizzlepath series, but they've largely been limited to PC. Now, however, one of Bodur's other adventures is making its way onto consoles in the form of The Dead Tree of Ranchiuna.

Full-motion video games are officially experiencing a renaissance following their premature demise in the mid- to late-nineties. No longer hindered by technological restraints, modern developers are taking full advantage of what interactive cinema can bring. One such designer is Paul Raschid, who previously directed The Complex and Five Dates and is now putting the finishing touches on a new live-action adventure called The Gallery.

Many time travel stories are epic tales with world-saving importance, but the stakes are much more personal for the protagonist of The Kids We Were, a former mobile-exclusive narrative adventure that has now made its way to PC and Switch.

There's just something about the combination of trains and murder that makes for a compelling claustrophic mystery. But while most such whodunits are content to play it fairly straight, Robust Games' upcoming Loco Motive will taking a much lighter approach to its otherwise serious subject matter when it arrives next summer.
